Children's Summer of Learning Programs

Registration is required for most programs and can be done in person, by phone at (908) 647-2088 ext. 2, or via email to childrens@longhilllibrary.org 
First priority for these programs is given to Long Hill Township residents, but non-residents are welcome to join our waiting list.


Programs for Babies

 All programs require registration unless stated otherwise.

 

Rhyme Time on Wednesdays at 10:30am 
Join us for 20 minutes of songs, fingerplays, and simple stories. For babies from birth through age 2 with caregiver. No registration required.

·  July 12, 19, and 26

·  August 2, 9, 16, and 23

 

First Roots Music and Movement on Friday, July 14 and August 4 at 10:30am
Babies up to age 2 will enjoy this 45-minute musical movement experience with Ms. Jenni. For newborn—age 2 with caregiver.

 

Baby Food with Miss Jessica on Wednesday, August 9 at 11:00am
Join us after Rhyme Time for a program about making your own baby food with Jessica Guarnieri, Registered Dietitian from ShopRite. Samples will be provided. For newborn—age 2 with caregiver. Please notify Miss Meaghan of any food allergies when registering.
 


Programs for Preschoolers

Creative Stories on Thursdays at 10:30am 
Listen to stories and make a craft. For ages 2-6 with parent/caregiver.

Storybook Yoga on Friday, July 21 and Friday, August 11 at 10:30am
Take a break from the heat and join Miss Traci for some energizing sun salutations, stories, and calming meditation. For ages 2-6 with parent/guardian.

 

Food Fun with Miss Jessica on Wednesday, July 26 at 5:30pm
Join us for stories and a healthy food activity with Jessica Guarnieri, Registered Dietitian from StopRite. Snacks included! For ages 2-6 with parent/caregiver. Please notify Miss Meaghan of any food allergies when registering.

 

Travelin’ Tumblers
Join us for 45 minutes of fun! Please wear active clothing and footwear (no flip-flops or sandals). For ages 2-6 with parent/caregiver.

Messy Monday
Let your imagination run wild in this process art program! Listen to a few stories and make a messy project. Please dress for a mess. For ages 2-6 with parent/caregiver.

Kid Fit Food Fun with Miss Jessica on Tuesdays at 4:00pm
Join us for a Kid Fit class with Jessica Guarnieri, Registered Dietitian from StopRite. Each session features a nutrition lesson and giveaway provided through a partnership with St. Barnabas. Snacks included! For ages 6-12 with parent/caregiver. Please notify Miss Meaghan of any food allergies when registering.

The Seeing Eye Visit on Tuesday, July 18 at 7:00pm
Anita Eigen from The Seeing Eye in Morristown joins us with her three year old golden retriever, Macy, for a fascinating presentation about the world’s oldest guide dog school. Participants will have an opportunity to take a photo with Macy following the presentation. For ages 8 and up with parent/guardian.

 

Mad Science: Planets and Moon Workshop on Wednesday, August 16 at 6:00pm
Set off on a voyage to discover the Solar System. Impersonate the planets to compare their sizes and distances from the Sun, recreate a solar and lunar eclipse, and become particles on a voyage into a planet's core. For ages 4-8 with parent/guardian.

 

Touch the Music presents “Drums from Around the World” on Wednesday, August 23 at 4:00pm
Learn about hand drums from different countries in this hands-on workshop. Experience basic rhythms and participate in a drum circle led by Claudia Lemmerz. For ages 6-12 with parent/caregiver.
